Religious freedom stops at one's front door of the house.once outside the door, ONE LAW should guide everyone.If a woman wants to wear veil and practice iSlam outside her house door and on the street, they can do that just as well in their own Allah Land.

Bihar leads in that aspect. One sikular IAS officer fired an employee in his office for refusing to remove his tilak. The IAS wallah was of the view that the tilak would offend the pampered minority.confuzzled dude wrote:What's next, ban wearing bindi, saree?

which part of covering the full face is not clear? I didnt know bindi and saree covered the face, making identification difficult

my own thinking on this has evolved. i think the minimum principle should be that when your behavior or choices and exercising of certain rights and privileges start to negatively impact the exercising of other rights and other privileges of others, it is correct for the court to step in rein you in.
in this case it is important for government agencies to obtain correct identification of individuals for a whole variety of reasons including but not only public safety. if the wearing of the full hijab makes such identification impossible, then it needs to be banned at least in situations which require identification. this is a difficult legal area and thoughtful people can disagree without calling each other names.
the one thing that surprises me is why this hasn't been tested in the courts more in the US as it has been in europe. the hijab wearers will probably have a stronger case in the US where the system is careful to not trample on religious rights of individuals (and now as we know from yesterday's hobby lobby ruling, of even corporations).
