Speaker can conduct a no-whip, secret poll in the Lok Sabha for the Oppostion benches to elect their representative who sits on the Constitutional bodies. No single party was given such a role by the people and Congress cannot stake any claim to that spot. NaMo should work behind the scenes to get BJD, TMC and ADMK and other smaller groups to ensure that a member from those succeed :-). That will be the biggest humiliation for Cong - especially for demanding a different handling now than what it did during all the decades it was ruling.

Good suggestion. I hope someone with access to Venkaiah Naidu's or any other BJP leader's twitter feed posts this.
Still remember the bizarre cover up Congress did in 2G JPC with PC Chacko, where they pronounced D Raja guilty without calling him even once to explain, OR Congress completely disregarding dissent votes by Sushma Swaraj on many appointments made during the UPA tenure. This arrogant party needs to be taught a big lesson and NDA should not show leniency or sympathy. Going by their recent utterances, it is clear Congress will never support NDA in the Rajya Sabha the way NDA supported congress for Land Acq , Food security and Telangana Bills.

Congress is not used to playing a 'responsible' opposition at the center and so far they didn't have to. The coalitions that ruled were either weak or had parties that had Cong style leanings - policies, ideology, governance etc or had leaders who were too magnanimous (Vajpayee). This is the first time they really had to be an opposition and unfortunately weak one at that.

Congress still has only 67 votes there. Their co-conspirators SP/TMC will support them. Nevertheless, such a scenario, can be handled by a special joint sitting of the parliament. It is after all, Congress which again set a precedent by resorting to such tactics in the past to bull doze their way past parliamentary hurdles.
