CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah, chief minister J Jayalalithaa, DMK chief M Karunanidhi and other leaders on Wednesday congratulated the Isro scientists on the success of India's maiden Mars mission.
 
In a statement, Rosaiah said: "It is a matter of great pride for each and every citizen of this great nation which has once again proved that the days of India becoming a super power are not far off."

Greeting all the scientists, engineers and technologists associated with Mars mission, Jayalalithaa said, "It is a matter of great pride for the country that our scientific community has been able to successfully place Mangalyaan in orbit around Mars. This is a historic achievement for India and the Indian Space Research Organisation."

"They have made the nation proud, and India now joins the very select band of countries that have successfully inducted explorers into outer space," she said. This achievement would inspire young minds in India to take up scientific research and development, she added.

In his greetings to the Isro team, DMK president M Karuananidhi said the scientific instruments in the orbiter would enable India to get details about the presence of minerals and water on the Mars. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government for the support extended to Isro.

DMDK chief Vijayakanth, PMK founder leader S Ramadoss and CPI state secretary D Pandian also greeted the team for the success.

Seva,

Nice to see you post this link- something positive from our leaders.   Nice to know what they said, and not surprising at all!

Tamilians are among the most generous when it comes to welcoming or applauding great efforts!

We are so proud of ALL the Scientists who worked on this mission, including brilliant women Scientists from the South..

As a friend said in another place.. quoting her..

"Rocking their Kanjeevarams in the most happening STEM room of the world.. Lean in, lean on..this and that..or just rock on!!! If you are good at what you do and are passionate enough everything else is immaterial. It looks like an image straight out of a wedding ceremony, but it is a celebration"..

It surely looked like a scene at a wedding ceremony  ....  nice celebration by the ISRO staff as the MOM acheived its orbital goal. You too take care!
