I am glad Mangathalayan succeeded. Given the limitations and serious handicaps and one-chance maneuvers needed to put it in Mars orbit, definitely Modi's lucky charm has a role in it.

Good site. I still did not get a clear answer to my query on the techniques used for position location. Hopefully somebody can provide the answer to my query.
Perhaps it was tri-laterization  using three different space stations located on the earth.
However, I do not know if the differences in time between these space stations would have been negligible to complete map  a 3-D Space, especially at long distances.

The article was right on the money here:

"The money would be better spent on healthcare and improved sanitation, so the argument goes.
But what this position often overlooks is that investment in science and technology builds capability and capacity, and develops the sort of people who benefit the economy and society more widely."
I hope more people write like this in Indian newspapers and other popular media to get the awareness of how the need for research and development and a constant ambition and push to take the next step is important for the Indian society and the country as a whole.
