Modi's Hindi was for Bhaiyyas and English for the scientists. He knew that there were not many bhaiyya scientists at ISRO.

Because scientists generally are not spin doctors like your friendly 'secular and left-leaning' media people are. They will take any inadvertent mistakes in the usage of words or slip of tongues in the proper stride.

Most top indian scientists are either South Indians or Bengalis.
