..should this be banned in India? With hindus going by Gita and Mahabharata, India should ban gambling which is the turning point in Mahabharata.

The muslims will support it wholeheartedly and this is one thing, there could really be a H-M synthesis.

Any effort to ban gambling will push it underground. Moreover, will the Govts. put an end to the state run lotteries which supposedly now support many social programs financially? Similarly, what about the horse racing and large casinos? Should these also be closed because of the gambling?
Btw I am personally not in favor of gambling.

desis are slowly evolving into world class gamblers**, atleast in poker. I played with vinny pahuja this last week in LA's commerce casino and did surprisingly well, he donated 4k to my cause. he's a top 50 poker player in the tournament and cash circuit currently. his brother's in running for poker player of the year for 2014. at the local casino I play, one of the top 5 players is a desi from india.

** although poker is not gambling, it's more of a game of skill than luck.

Did you play No Limit Texas Hold'em? The skill is in one's ability to play mindgames with the opponents - not easy.

It's Burn After Reading. The Man who knew too much was from Hitchcock.
