A Hindi teacher at a private school in Chennai pinched a studewnts cheek for not doiung home work. Court ordered her to pay Rs. 50000.

It is outrageois.

The fine should have been 5 lakhs, not 50000. As it is, the child must have been traumatized by the burden of having to do homework in this alien language. On top of that physical violence was unleashed on her/him, leaving her/him scarred for life.
In my school days I hated doing Hindi homework. At the end of the year the teacher was inspecting every student's notebook to make sure all the homework was upto date. So I hid under a bench for 45 minutes to escape inspection. Luckily she didn't notice my absence and I was able to heave a sigh of relief as the bell rang to signal the end of the class.

Would they have done the same had it been a math or an english teacher? 
This is ridiculous! Poor teacher!

Agree with you -- it's too much. In the old days teachers were able to beat students black and blue for nothing.
