I spent 40 years on Wall Street.
I saw many abuses and many done by our Government, lying leaking information everything done to get the defendant to go to jail was tried legal or not
The one thing I remember most is that most (but not all) defendants who did go to jail went because either a deal was made or a threat to someone in their family was given immunity from prosecution. It did not matter what their involvement was.
Where the defendant chose to fight (guilty or not) they mostly walked.
We live in a culture where winning is everything. It does not matter if the Government is right or wrong.
