Vakavaka Pakapaka and Marathadi Saamiyaar Empty Vakavaka Pakapaka and Marathadi Saamiyaar

On the old Sulekha forum Vakavaka Pakapaka had said that his own father was a die hard secularist who had more respect for Maulana Azad than for Mahatma Gandhi.
Also Marathadi Saamiyaar had said that his father was of the opinion that traditionally Islam was superior to Hinduism in two respects: absence of caste system, and treatment towards widows.

I wonder why these two gentleman preferred to take a diametrically opposite political view on the issue of secularism as compared to their fathers.
