advice to comrades romney, boehner, mitchell, ryan, and bush.
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/09/opinion/lets-not-mention-inequality.html

desperate times (like the improving economy and decreasing unemployment) call for desperate measures, like suddenly turning "commie" when all these years these very same characters have been telling us worrying about inequality is a waste of time.

it's funny to see ponnuru talk about expanding opportunities when this very same republican congress has blocked the president at every turn when he has made policy proposals to do precisely that.

found in the comments section:
As usual Mr. Ponnuru conveniently forgets that the Republicans have consistently blocked all efforts to combat poverty, expand opportunity and increase middle-class wages for the past 6 years. Voting on bills in the House of Representatives is only window dressing as long as the Republican party rules out any compromise.

another comment:
What this public consensus says to me is that Americans have given up going after the wealthiest 1% that control the U.S. corporatocracy because it's too difficult. In a global economy in which economists seem to rule the way due to their technical and difficult theories, the 99% argue over the scraps which divide us. Let's face it, the wheels of the economy require far too much concentration and a curious focused attention span than the majority of us can muster. The public would rather let an "expert" explain the policy and then blame the politician who carries out the theory based on a simple remark he makes at a prayer breakfast or whether he agrees or disagrees with the right to open carry guns.

Just as the sub-prime bundled mortgage commodities were bundled and packaged under elaborate and complex economic and financial terminology, so are global trade agreements and corporate and personal tax legislation written to favor the 1%. So, for the uneducated the artists or the unemployed we fight about whether college students should repay their debt, about whether seniors are entitled to collecting Medicare or old age payments, whether poor people should receive free food stamps instead of working for an honest's day's pay instead. All the while, the lavishly wealthy are going to court to settle legal disputes regarding tax deductions for their exotic art collections or whether the purchase of their fifth house in the Cayman Islands is deductible under their LLC agreement.

Hmm.. How are they going to combat poverty & income inequality? they are against food stamps, wage hike. May be they can achieve this by quadrupling defense budget and by bringing back the draft.
