It's like - "If only Chengiz Khan had a telephone!" (the implication is - he would have massacred 100 times more people, there would have been no population problem, poverty, hunger, and other bad stuff today)

Explain this Empty Re: Explain this

In classical Physics, the idea was that matter and energy stayed or moved as per some predefined laws of nature that were independent. In quantum Physics, it turned out that the laws of nature didn't work in isolation, but the observer also influenced the outcome. Another thing about quantum Physics was that observed phenomena could be in more than one state simultaneously, although these states were again determined by the laws of nature and influenced by the observer.

In both of the above situations, matter and energy themselves seem to not have much say in the matter. However, if particles became sentient beings, with their own opinions and agendas, in conjunction with the laws of nature and the observer's influence, the complexity of the system would increase by many orders of magnitude.

Incidentally, this exactly what human life is: a system governed by the laws of nature, by the influence of the observer, and above all, the sentient awareness and opinions of the pesky minions themselves. This makes life unique and complex for each individual, and for the system as a whole, and thus, highly difficult for astrology and other such disciplines to predict things with any more certainty than a random roll of the dice.

You mean thusly science/rationalism are limited in their ability to explain certain "super-scientific" phenomenon.

rest of it was very lucid, SP. thanks.

Yesterday I read a comment by an astronomist that there are likely to be TWO million binary-type planets (planets with 2 suns) in our Galaxy (just in our galaxy).

from the days when people ridiculed Carl Sagan for suggesting that there has to be other planets out there to the current "find a planet a day" excitement it is proved beyond doubt that the scientists should change their stubborn views based on the current limited knowledge.

What next? finding "God"?

that is still not a goal. dark energy comprises 70% of the universe and is intangible -- it's not matter like dark matter is. yet it contributes to the universe's density (like a force does to mass). next will be god if another isn't revealed in the process.

who ? Carl Sagan - the one with orange lipstick a la NTR who claimed that his 3Y old child could recall dreams of hissing snakes and that it supports the retention of reptilian complex in us was a pioneer of scientific showbiz...

but yeah...the scientists never ever change their view and are stuck only to hypotheses propaganda, whether they are proved or falsified Sad

If particles could think, physics would be immaterial!

It means even those with particle-sized brain will be able to think.
