Re: Fitbit HR
Apparently, the calorie counter and HR monitor aren't all that accurate. True?

How did they come to that conclusion? I just checked my pulse manually. It's the same as the HR monitor. No issues there. The calories burned for the same activity could be different for different people, depending on their ht, wt, gender and all. So can't compare with the other person. Did they check with two different devices? If so, how do they know which one is accurate and which one is not?Vakavaka Pakapaka wrote:Apparently, the calorie counter and HR monitor aren't all that accurate. True?

I was looking at reviews. More than one person is writing that when they exercise (one mentioned the elliptical & another, cycling), the calories burnt and the change in HR are not comparable to values from other professional devices they used. There are others who seem to be very impressed with it.

I don't do the machines. I go to the classes, so didn't have anything to compare. Today I did a bit of the machines to compare. You could have a point there. The heart rate was fine. Not much difference except for one or two beats/min. But, the fitbit was showing fewer calories burned than the machine. Was it because the machines are not customized? I don't know. I didn't do for a long time as i had just gone to the class. I need to explore that area more.Vakavaka Pakapaka wrote:Kinnera wrote:How did they come to that conclusion? The best thing is the sleep pattern that it shows (yeah, you wear it 24/7, except when you are taking a shower). It's so useful for chronic insomniacs like me. It shows the sleep pattern by the hour for the entire night in a graph. Tells you how many hours you slept, how many hours you were in bed, how many times you got up, how many mins of deep sleep you had, what time you went to bed, what time you got up, and your sleep efficiency in percentage, etc. It also gives you a graph on how you did each day of the week so you can compare. Pretty cool.
there's still a lot more for me to explore and utilize it to the fullest.
