The answer is 4 letters. It's a slang word that's used for both "shooting" somebody and cocaine. (Hint: see my post in the Fun section "Burglary in Florida.":-Smile

All clues have been solved except # 2.

2. Famous horse! zonk out, halfass. (6)

Hints: (a) The answer is really a "halfass" (half donkey); (b) it's a word-in-word clue; (c) think of a very well known horse of a TV show of yester year; (d) think of other animals that are are also horses genetically (colt, mare, pony, gelding, stallion, some wild horses, and so on).

ZEDONK ----- Z(ED)ONK (Famous horse is Mr. Ed of the Ed Sullivan show, Zonk is out (outside of Ed), and ZEDONK is the offspring of a zebra and a donkey (when they get horny - color, language (i.e., bray vs. neigh), national origin, and ...... even species -do not appear to matter, just the right gender):-Smile

I agree it's not an everyday word. I did not make it up. It's there in the dictionary.

I didn't understand this one. How did "named" become "amed" and what does Bob mean?

Repentant |tree |named Bob. (7)

ASH for tree + nAMED (bob "named," i.e., chop "named")

ASHAMED = Repentant
