you live in a swing state. States like New York, California lean heavily democratic while states like Texas vote Republican. If you are voting against this trend, you won't make a difference in the voting results anyway. Even if you are voting with the trend, at the most you are increasing the victory margin. Of course, if everyone develops this mentality and doesn't show up at the voting booth, then the results will look different but what are the chances of that happening? "

I heard this talk during water cooler chat at the office today. Would love to hear what suchers think of this theory.

I agree!

Let the other 42 states take the day off and voting take place only in 8 swing states

Why the hassle if voting in 42 other states is meaningless.
