Three questions from Pakistan that India needs to answer Empty Three questions from Pakistan that India needs to answer

Post by confuzzled dude Tue Oct 25, 2016 8:15 pm

It is not at all difficult for a common Pakistani to understand how religious extremism works to hold the entire society hostage.

And then the non-state actors make great policy instruments in India in more than one subtle ways. They are the guardians and the guarantors of nationalism. They are a political capital that no party can afford to ignore, come elections. They can choke political discourse, gag dissenters, shape policies and dictate history.

How did India get where it is?

Its constitution is secular. It has been taking pride in its diversity. And they never waged a 'jihad' at their borders.

How did then the religious extremists come to hijack the government and bring the society to its knees?

I could find no answer. I wonder if India can.

Well, we hope that the latest jingoistic fervor in India is a temporary phenomenon; Indian media & common man (including from minorities) who openly & regularly chastise Modi, BJP & RSS for their faults, will bring sanity back.

1. Minority appeasement of the political parties for the muslim vote bank as muslims always voted en masse. Muslims playing the minority card. Muslims perceived as religious fanatics for whom their religion came first to everything else.

2. Muslim leadership's selfish and adamant stand during the ram janmabhumi's row (syed shahbuddin and sultan salauddin owaisi are the major ones to be blamed). If only the ram janmabhumi issue was settled amicably, things would've been quite different today. India is never the same post Ram janmabhumi's meltdown just as america isn't the same after 9/11. If only the muslim leadership was generous and respected the sentiments of millions of hindus and had the abandoned mosque built elsewhere, brick by brick (and even demanding heavy compensation) in exchange for the janmabhumi site, it could've earned a lot of respect, appreciation and admiration of hindus towards muslims. Instead, the opposite happened. Who is the loser now?

3. Nehruvian/leftist/commie mentality that being anti-hindu is secular and liberal and sucking up to the minorities is being generous and large-hearted. Their hypocrisy and double standards irked the hindus.
Godhra and gujrat riots and the blame game and the role the media played also irked hindus to the point of voting modi to power again and again.

Ram janmabhumi---->godhra---->gujrat riots----->terrorist acts----->rise of hindu nationalism. See the root cause?

Hindus felt being taken for granted and ultimately became what they hated in the other.

(these are the brutal facts. As long as there's denial, justification, and blame game of the above, instead of looking within, India will remain as is or will become worse. The indian media chastising 'hindu nationalists' will only have the reverse effect on the indian psyche. It won't bring the sanity back.)

Things are not as bad as indicated in the above (e.g. "How did then the religious extremists come to hijack the government and bring the society to its knees?").  Consider for example the following.

Muslim wedding in Hindu temple

The two had been in love, but fear of society led them to elope. Shortly afterward, the young Muslim couple returned to their village, where elders held their wedding — at a Hindu shrine.

Amid the nationwide surge in religious intolerance, Mohammad Sohan, 25, and Nuresha Khatun, who is five years younger to the groom, married in a Shiva temple at Bhimnagar village of Supaul district in northeast Bihar bordering Nepal.

The nikah last weekend was attended by hundreds of people from Hindu and Muslim communities. Maulvi Mohammad Jaffar, who read out kalma to the couple, said the decision was taken “to make people realize that one thing which always wins is love”.

Added panchayat head Sudhir Kumar Singh, who was behind this organizing the marriage with a difference: “It’s a nikah that was solemnised at the verandah of Shiva temple. We hope this will send a strong message to those who are spreading hatred among communities in the world.”

Both Sohan and Nuresha, who are natives of Bhimnagar panchayat along the Indo-Nepal border, were in love for over five years. During the Dussehra festival, they eloped to Delhi traveling no less than 1,200 km, only to return to their village on Friday.

You did not get my point. Well, I didn't think you would. I was highlighting the key difference that despite differences in ideologies, Indian constitution lets its press/citizens openly criticize its politicians, govt etc.,

Sir your memory is indeed good. It is your inference/comparison faculties that need attention.
Blacks were alienated by people(rights or whites). Allah/Mullah combo is the one alienating Muslims.

Who alienates who? Muslims are the ones who alienate themselves from the rest. They want everybody to suck up to them, but they never give in. This is the root of the problem. The pakistani who wrote the article didn't get it, neither did you (you probably got it, but you don't want to accept it. You love playing the muslim victim card). They never change, while playing victim when others behave like them.

Don't know about renting. My parents sold their house to muslims. The transaction went smoothly. The buyers were happy, the sellers were happy.

Sir, Brahmins, not long ago, (probably your parents/grand parents too), used to not allow non-brahmin Hindus let alone Muslims into their houses nor let them touch them. Some still practice this.

Let's see if you can answer the question on who led the movement prior to 1947 (India's Independence from the Brits) with the slogan "Muslims can't live with Hindus" seeking a separate country for his community which supported him wholeheartedly leading to India's partition)?

Jinnah is history and was a Pakistani (when he died). The discussion here is about Muslims who chose to remain in India. Remember, I did not agree with Pakistani writer about his superficial comparison of India & Pakistan.
