As the election year kicks into gear, election year politics are in place. Obama refused to approve the pipeline on the deadline that the GOP set for him as part of the payroll tax cut extension package. But he still wants to stay on the fence on this one, stating that the decision is not a judgment on the merits of the pipeline at all. It is going to be interesting how this plays out politically for the president and the GOP.
