Patidar leader Hardik Patel accuses BJP of winning in Gujarat by tampering EVM's

Ahmedabad: Patidar leader Hardik Patel on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of tampering with EVM’s in Gujarat.
At a time, when the BJP is on its way to register another win in the state, Hardik while addressing a press conference said, “The results of BJP winning signifies that EVMs were tampered during the elections. In Surat, Rajkot and Ahmedabad particularly, there are reports of 12-15 seats where the BJP has won massively due to EVM tampering."
"I have been talking about this issue for the last three days. And I have read reports about EVM tampering as well. In Surat ward, where over one lakh Patidars live, they have informed us that EVMs have been tampered by the BJP", added Hardik.
The Patidar leader also urged the Congress party to raise the issue of EVM tampering.
"In the self-interest of the people, the Congress should also do the same and raise the issue of EVM tampering", said Hardik.
Hardik also differentiated the difference of using technology in elections in India and other countries.
"In Israel and Japan, where technology is so advanced there, EVMs are not used there, since people know about the disadvantages of using technology in elections. But, here (in India), it is the opposite," said Hardik.
On being asked whether he had proof to support EVM tampering, Hardik said: "As I said earlier, there is a calculator-like device connected to the EVM which automatically changes the vote counting margin of the winning candidate. I have seen it in my own eyes."
"There have been reports that even Wi-Fi and Bluetooth have been used for EVM tampering. If ATM can be hacked for money, then EVM also can be hacked for gaining votes," added Hardik.
The Patidar leader praised the Congress' neck-to-neck electoral fight against the BJP and thanked the people for supporting the Patidars during the agitation.
Threatening the BJP, Hardik said that he would continue the fight against EVMs and would be ready to go to jail again.

As BJP secured a comfortable victory in Gujarat, Patidar leader Hardik Patel accused the ruling party of tampering with the EVMs. Patel alleged that the voting machines in Surat, Rajkot and Ahmedabad were tampered with as the margin there was very less. “There has been tampering in EVMs in Surat, Rajkot and Ahmedabad, hence the gap is very less wherever tampering happened. EVMs are hackable,” said Patel.
The Patidar Anamant Andolan Samiti (PAAS) convener, who backed the Congress in the polls, said the party would have won had the BJP not “indulged in cheating”.
Upset with the poll results, Patel asked the opposition parties to take the movement against EVMs forward. “I urge all the opposition parties to take this concern against EVMs forward. If ATMs can be hacked, why can’t the EVMs,” said Patel.
Patel also congratulated BJP for its victory in a sarcastic tone. “I congratulate the BJP which has won by tampering with the EVMs. Though people of Gujarat had taken a decision (of uprooting the BJP), the ruling party won though money power and by tampering with EVMs,” Patel told reporters.
Patel also alleged that seals of EVMs were found broken before the counting started today at many places. “I urge all opposition parties to start a movement against the use of EVMs and demand that next elections be held through ballots papers only,” he said.
Patel said it was “difficult to digest” the BJP’s victory on several seats such as Varachha Road and Kamrej in Surat
which have sizable Patidar population. “Varachha Road and Kamrej have over one lakh Patidar voters each. They even turned up in huge numbers during my rallies in those areas. Despite that such results have come,” he said.
Patel alleged the poll outcome showed that the BJP won through “unfair means”. “The Congress could have won if they (BJP) had not done such cheating. Playing a safe game, the BJP had set a target of winning only 100 seats so that no one questions their victory,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Patel alleged that preparations have been made by an Ahmedabad-based firm to hack the source code of 5,000 EVMs with the help of 140 software engineers.
The Patidar leader said, “It would make people laugh but no one will consider what I say. If the human body, which has been created by God, can be fiddled with, why cannot EVMs? If ATMs can be hacked, why not EVMs?”

The young activist, who had in fiery speeches that drew big crowds vowed to end BJP rule in Gujarat, was subdued today. But he reiterated his allegation that "12-13 seats were messed around with...seats which made ministers win."
The BJP should have "ideally got 82 seats," Hardik Patel said, adding, "the Patels opposed them, OBCs opposed them, Dalits opposed them, traders opposed them, so who voted for them?"
His struggle would continue, he said, stating that he is writing to all opposition leaders to question EVMs and demand that elections be held using ballot paper as they once were.
He had said yesterday as votes were counted, "EVMs decide our country's future... If ATMs can be hacked, why can't EVMs?" Voting machines had been tampered with in Surat, Rajkot and Ahmedabad, where the results were close, he alleged.

After months of displaying anti-incumbency on the streets, the voters of Surat eventually chose the Bharatiya Janata Party. The ruling party – set to win the Gujarat Assembly election with 99 seats today – took 15 of 16 constituencies in Surat district, leaving just the reserved Scheduled Tribe seat of Mandvi to the Congress. The BJP won all nine constituencies of urban Surat, with significant margins.
The verdict has left Congress and Patidar leaders in India’s textile city stumped.
In mid-year, Surat’s textile markets were the epicentre of protests and strikes against the Narendra Modi government’s implementation of the Goods and Services Tax, which caused heavy economic disruption for over 65,000 textile traders in the city. Many of the traders are Patidars, and in the past six months Surat’s Patidars had been turning out in large numbers to show support for Hardik Patel’s Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti. Anger against the BJP seemed so strong that on many occasions, Patidar youth disrupted the BJP’s rallies and came to blows with BJP workers, particularly in Varaccha Road constituency.
On December 3, Hardik Patel’s 30-km bike rally through six of Surat’s constituencies drew out thousands of Patidar supporters. The Samiti’s leaders announced they were confident that the Congress would win at least four seats in the city – Varaccha, Katargam, Kamrej, Surat North. In the end, the BJP won them all. In Katargam, the party won by over 79,230 votes.
The Congress and Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leaders struggled to express their shock.
“We have no idea why this has happened, we are so shocked,” said Alpesh Kathiriya, the Surat convener for the Samiti. “There is not much we can do now. The people were so angry with the [BJP] government. We don’t know what factors have led to these results.”
Kadir Pirzada, a senior Congress leader from Surat, described the city’s verdict as “completely unexpected”. “All this while the people of Surat came out on the roads to protest against GST, they didn’t let BJP candidates campaign, they expressed so much anger – and even after that they voted for BJP,” he said. Over the past 22 years of the BJP’s rule in Gujarat, Pirzada said, the Congress had often felt it was no longer a part of the electoral equation. “But this time, it looked like we had an advantage,” he added, “so there is a lot of confusion about these results.”

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena on Wednesday continued its tirade against the BJP over the Gujarat election results and hinted at the tampering of electronic voting machines in the polls.
The BJP retained power in Gujarat with a reduced tally of 99 seats against 115 last time. The Congress increased its tally from 61 seats in 2012 to 77 this time.
"If what (Patidar leader) Hardik Patel says is true, then the BJP will have to garland EVMs also, besides Modi, for the Gujarat victory," the Sena said....
It said the Gujarat elections showed that the ruling party "can stoop to any level" to win the elections.
"Modi had said BJP will win 151 seats, while BJP chief Amit Shah said getting over 150 seats would be their real victory. However, the people of Gujarat did not even give them 100 seats," it claimed.
The party claimed the urban class had tilted towards the BJP, but the "real Hindustan" was in villages where the problems of farmers and labourers remained unresolved.
The bickering ally had on Tuesday also attacked the BJP claiming "the much-touted Gujarat model had shaken" and the poll outcome in the state was a "warning bell" to those who believe in an autocratic rule.
