The Saudis can happily return back to their nomadic ways and become happy smelling camels and wiping their butts with rocks. Pakis may start begging India to allow conversion back to Hinduism and Buddhism. CONmen will become priests in temples and start practicing yoga.....

The MiddleEast (Saudia, Libya etc.) also get too much sunlight in desert like conditions to harvest plenty of solar energy. When I was working in Libya several decades ago I noticed the locals using petrol in their desalination plants to get fresh water. I suggested to my boss (a Libyan guy) to explore the possibility of using solar power instead of petrol for desalination. He agreed that it would be a worthwhile switch.
