Movie synthesis Quiz

I have only two questions.

1. This famous director from a South Indian state (state no:1) made this movie in a different South Indian language (state no: 2) with a superstar from the first South Indian state mentioned above. Movie went onto become a super hit. The director then remade the movie in Hindi with the same superstar actor as the lead. Hindi movie was a mega hit. The heroines from both these movies went on to achieve moderate success throughout their careers.
Name the director, the two movies, actor and actresses.

2. This director from a South Indian state is famous for casting these two superstar actors in a movie earlier in their career. This movie's female lead went onto achieve great success in several languages including Hindi. This director had a lot of assistants directors who went on to make good movies. One assistant in particular made many commercial hits that are popular even now. This director then made a movie with the actor from the first question which was a moderate hit in the southern indian state. The same movie was remade by the Assistant mentioned above, in Hindi with a Hindi superstar as the lead. He changed just the climax to make it more believable. Hindi movie also achieved some success.
Name the movie(s), directors and the actors.

1) K. Balachandar, Manocharitra, Ek Duje Keliye, KamalaHasan, Sarita and Rati Agnihori

2) The actors are Kamalahasan, Rajnikant and Sridevi? No idea on the movies etc

Sure, if I can come up with some challenging synthesis ones..will post them!

This was quite a maze, had to take some twists and turns..I could guess it was Bhagyaraj..because of the "asst. director" and the movies-based on "Hindi superstar" clues!

It's MAROCHARITRA (another story), not MANOCHARITRA (story of Mano, the guy who sings, or "History according to Me" (somewhat on the similar lines of "mano-dharma-sangeetam," you sing based on what musical phrases come to your mind).
