how do we attract more people to sign up to join?

As of today the membership count here is 50.
I doubt any more would transfer over from the old Sulekha CH to here, at least not in significant numbers (may be 10-20).
So, how do we swell member rolls here?

Actually the count is 80... three of which are my handles. And we have a few that never posted.

How do we advertise the neat features we have here - posting from mobile devices, posting in languages, video and picture posting, no advertisements, ability to edit posts, etc. etc., so more folks would sign up?

Perhaps if you post on the old CH talking about these features, some of the people who are reluctant to move will listen. The messenger is often more important than the message. Early on, I used to post frequently on old CH about this new forum. I stopped doing this because it became counter-productive coming from me. I hope others will continue to provide a link at old CH to this forum, so infrequent visitors know about this place.

I am new to search-engine optimization. I am trying to learn the tricks and implement those, so people searching for a desi community forum would see this near the top of their search results. If any CHers have experience with this, I would appreciate their help / advice / tips.

Also, people who participate on other online forums may consider promoting this site in those forums as well.

Type in and repeat a few search terms several times over in some thread and make that a sticky for now.

if more people search for something on google and click on forumotion, it will bring forumotion onto the front page of google. all u have to do is search for desi forums/coffeehouse and click on forumotion link. this is how my friend got his blog on google's first page. after sometime the first page was all about him/his linked in profile and his website/his blog and his home on google earth except another guy with same name in the end on first page.

dude, it would have been awfully funny if it was not as melodramatic. Its like the songs in movies, where one guy writes a letter and ties it on the pigeon and sends it to the other. Only it is a break up. I am still rolling on the floor seeing all the drama.

one way of attracting members is by advertizing on other desi sites (like echarcha.com for example). openly advertizing there will lead to a ban and deletion (the deletion will ensure your message does not reach the target audience). the only other way is through PMs to the active members there. someone with a lot of free time can do this. i will make an initiative and post my progress later.
