If "I" am a "Self" - "Others" should "NEVER" bother me.
The fact that "THEY" do, means "I" have "NOT" understood "SELF". My
happiness or sadness is not driven by others. If it is, I have not
understood self. But if my happiness and sadness has no reason or
definition but only for others (e.g. my son's or daughter's or wife's or
parent's or siblings or friends) - what is "MY" happiness? I do NOT
know. My happiness is "TIED" to theirs. I no longer seek my happiness,
but theirs. Perhaps, in their happiness, I will find my own? Thats where
"individuastic" philosophy of a Vivekananda or Sant Tukaram loses me. I
am not me. I am no longer just "me".

That's a profound point. This is also an advaitic repudiation of any duality in individuality.

The answer that ToothSeeker seeks:

Considering the grief his self has caused him (the worst being losing Maya), losing self is the best thing that could happen to him. A couple of more glugs of the two-dollar hooch might bring him closer to that Nirvana.

After "hideous," it is the turn of "self-effacing" to be redefined.

Do U care to find out how many kids these Wendy and Linda abandoned after their several divorces before they became experts in Indian history and Philosophy? Do you? Md Atta did not read Kabir before he blew up twin towers. Had he read him, he would have blown up Laden.
