only two days remaining for submissions on genghis khan's greatness and the list of famous ppl who admired him. next week will be suleiman the great week.

he was an ethnic tulu, but his court language was telugu. is considered great because he not only accomplished military victories but was also a great patron of literature and philosophy. some of the philosophical debates that took place in his presence are still remembered.

A telugu friend informed me that as per andhra tradition krishnadeva raya was very fond of wrestling, though i have not read this anywhere.

Hey, at this rate we will never get to more recent great rulers like Stalin, Hitler and Pol Pot. I think we should mix this up a little: one recent tyrant, one long-gone tyrant. We did the Nizam, now we are doing Genghis. Next we should do a recent tyrant. I recommend Pol Pot, but I will leave it up to Rashmun to decide.

pol pot khan..hmmmmm perhaps we should stick with the southeast/mid asia theme before we move to the asia minor. point taken
