S S Colony police arrested the 59-year old doctor and filed an FIR against the doctor. The girl and the doctor were subjected to medical examination on Tuesday. Dr Shankarnarayanan owns a hospital of his own where he resides in the ground floor of the 20-bedded hospital along with his family.

The doctor was previously accused in a similar crime when he was serving in a Usilampatti hospital eight years back. The doctor has two children, a boy and a girl, both are said to be medical students
