Did Andhra MP Sarve Satyanarayana’s profuse Sonia bhajans help secure him the Union MoS for road transport and highways chair? Fifty-eight-year-old Satyanarayana calls Sonia Gandhi “Amma” and his many press meets consist of a single-point agenda—chanting the praises of Ammagaru and talking about the “golden day” when Rahul Gandhi will be made PM. Though a vocal proponent of Telangana, Satyanarayana is the only Congress MP who has never threatened to resign over the statehood cause. Since 2009 when the T-agitation flared up, the MP has repeated the same sentence over and over: “When Ammagaru promises something, she never goes back on her word. I have complete faith in her.” And it’s paid off. Satyanarayana has bagged a minister’s post, and party colleagues who earlier used to snigger at his theatrics are eating their hearts out.
