A sad story.

She could have just enjoyed being an athlete. She could have viewed winning a medal as a welcome side effect if it happens.

Instead, she based her selfworth on whether she was capable of winning a gold medal or not.

This story is a warning for parents who berate and humiliate their kids for not being the top student in their class.

It is OK to be average in whatever you do whether academics or sports.

Don't think it was related to her not winning a medal. She wanted to live a *fantasy*.
