Nice way of "doing forgiveness"..Tracy.

There are many quotes about forgiveness I like..here is one from- Nelson Mandela:

“Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies.”

And songs with forgiveness themes are nice..in Tamil "Mannikka vendukiren" came to mind..posted it some time ago, will post another good- more recent one "Mannippaya?" (Will you forgive me?) Of course..Shreya Goshal's voice is glorious..Rahman is okay and he blends in the theme from Titanic in a nice (!) way..and really good to see the song's lyrics- written by a woman Ms. Thamarai- which is quite rare!

ouch @ burr. i hope it gets warmer soon wherever you are. we had a winter shower today and it is brr again but this is the last spell. bye bye winter. yesterday was basant panchami or the advent of spring. and the count down to holi has begun, march 27th, when HARYANAKASHYAPOO's son will emerge unscathed from the pyre and we will light a bonfire in mock celebration and play with colours the next day. actually my MIL and SIL played holi with me yesterday and i was taken by surprise. i had forgotten that basant panchami is also played with colours. yesteday was saraswati puja too. lunch was bhog/offering from the local puja: bengali style khichudi/khichdi with sweet papaya chutney -- bliss. have a good day! Smile

uh oh. yesterday was basant panchmi. My mom loved basant panchmi. would make us wear new bright outfits, preferably yellow colored. She would be also excited, coz it would be my mama's bday. but she might be miserable this basant panchmi, as he passed away last summer. damn, should have called.

I hope so too..weather here is like a moody person, can't make up it's mind with constant changes!

Good to read about the colorful count down to Holi festival..and if your MIL and SIL are playful with you..it's all good:) Papaya chutney..not sure if I have ever had that before, do like papayas.

Speaking of colorful (!)..Tracy I am with HK..hope you make that call..it can do wonders for your Mom.

Yeah, she called me first. So I said I didn't know it was bp yday, found out just now. She asked, 'What would you have done if you knew?' I said, 'What else would I have done. Would have called you, and you would be remembering mama'. So she cried a lil bit. We talked about him a lil bit, then about some other relatives a lil bit. I repeated all the good stuff she likes to hear about her sister, my mausi, and mausi's kids, my cousins... Then it was BAU i.e. She told me to feed my skinny son a bit more (read solid parathe instead of plain roti, and eggs and chicken), and to ask doctor why he is so weak. Rolling Eyes

Seems like an easy prep..although we don't get papayas here..and it may not be the same, I am wondering if I can try the recipe with melons-cantaloupes..we get the orange (honey dew) and the green ones too. Will let you know..how the "Cantaloupe Chutney" (!) turns out!

On a different note..am surprised you have not had Mackerel curry..we get some good fish here..esp. King Mackerel..it's quite delicious..curry or fried. Wish I can send you some:)

ya, i'm surprised i still haven't tried it or heard about it. thanks to rekz, this is now one of the fishes i must try during my next trip to the south or mumbai. fried mackerel sounds yummy! i love fried, fresh rohu, ilish and pomfret. not much of a fan of bhetki and catfish (magur).
