oscars isn't a "family show" any more? or is this what's rated "family" now?

technical awards are all that it deserves - but one never knows with oscars. i think patriotism will drive "lincoln" for the more serious awards.

Lincoln is a good movie. It should win several awards based on merit. Best actor and best director. May be best supporting actor.

am a lil suprised that Amour won the best foreign film. I loved the film, but didnt think Oscars liked Hollywood bashing filmmakers.

So the Ang Lee one was the only real surprise among the big ones. Congrats Jennier, congrats Daniel, congrats Ben, etc.

I have no words to describe Emmanulle Riva's performance in Amour! So was Trintignant, he lived in that role! To me the biggest snub was John Hawkes in The Sessions. He was fantastic!
Seen Argo, didnt care much for it. It is a decent thriller nothing more than a slightly above average hollywood movie.

it was obvious that one of the 3 'patriotic' movies will take the 'best picture' - zero dark thirty or argo or lincoln.
am glad to see spielberg snubbed.

Re: oscars
what did you guys think about michelle obama announcing winners ?
do you think academy asked her to do it or she's a bit like michael obi's wife who liked to poke her nose where it didn't belong

She didn't need to do it. Methinks, this was in her bucket list or something. To catch a little glam limelight. So, why not do it in second term as FLOTUS. She is a human too. If I became prime minister of India, I will make sure I get two minute guest appearance in every A-lister's movies. A full song would be even better.

heh... reminds me. If some firsthand accounts are to be believed, Indira Gandhi used to dress in costumes at home... the ones she was gifted during various tours (anyone remember seeing her wearing those and folk dancing in DD News?). Also, inside the house, she would be dressed in skirts.

err, you planning to dance? or are you going to do a sequence where they show your face in sunflowers, rose petals etc while the hero twists around in tight white pants and not require you to do gymnastics in saree?
