How stupid is he?
This is the article:
http://tribune.com.pk/story/511944/modi-and-the-2002-massacre/
Godwin's law in effect
To call the killings of Muslims as a spontaneous reaction reminds one of Kristallnacht in Germany in November 1938, when the entire Jewish community there was attacked, many killed, their synagogues burnt, shops vandalised, etc. after a German diplomat in Paris was shot by a Jewish youngster whose family had been persecuted by the Nazis. The Nazis claimed that this was a ‘spontaneous’ reaction, but, in fact, it was planned and executed by the authorities using fanatic mobs.

this is the same article that was published in the Hindu. How can anyone stop a Paki newspaper from publishing something published in some other paper. For instance, TOI frequently publishes articles from NYTimes.

Justice V.N. Khare is essentially saying the same thing:

Are YOU saying that Justice Katlu - although he is the Chairman of the Press council of India - is correct in writing a partisan article against the major opposition party ?

What you are claiming is not true. His article is not against the BJP.

You did not answer the question - not surprising.

i have pointed out that your question is erroneous. His criticism is not for the BJP--it is confined to Narendra Modi.

In other words, Justice Katlu is correct in criticizing a major CM of a state ruled by the main opposition party in parliament and it is perfectly fair.
Thank you for your interpretation.

Re: Justice Katlu should resign
There are some differences between the article published in The Hindu and that in the Pakistani newspaper. Apparently Markji sent in his article to both papers, and each paper edited it somewhat differently.
Markji shows a remarkable lack of judgment in publishing this in the Pakistani paper. He should resign his post and join Congress so he can openly express his political views. I wish him luck as a Congress politician.

Agree koboletely. That is my point. Katlu Sirji has every right to criticize but cannot do that by also sitting as Chair of Press Council of India -unless the press openly admits to its inherent suck-up-to-the-congress nature.
A few more articles like this, Justice katlu Sirji will be on par with that Monthly fasting ex-Sepoy (honestly forgot his name). Yep Anna ji.

Pakistanis revere Jinnah who was responsible for the murder of at least 300,000 hindus.
They have no business of pointing their fingers at Modi.

Re: Justice Katlu should resign
Mark Katju should be kicked out of his quasi-government post by the Center on two counts:
1. Sending an article to a Pakistani publication about crimes committed against muslims in Gujarath as its CM-sponsored occurrence could further inflame Pakistanis against India. This has the appearance of being anti-patriotic.
2. It is reprehensible for a quasi-government employee appointed as the Chairman of the Press Council of India to be shooting his mouth off about his political views (particularly when appointed by the Congress-led Center) accusing the CM of Gujarath, an important figure in the opposition party, of foul play in anti-muslim riots.
Shame on Manmohan Singh, Sonia and the UPA coalition for not taking action against this loose cannon who is only making them look complicit and guilty.

Not at all. Just as I believe in the separation of Church and State I also believe in journalistic integrity in not abusing the power and prestige given as the Head of the Indian Press Council. If Katju wants to publish his personal views as an Indian citizen, he ought to resign from his quasi-government post first. Otherwise it reeks of political favoritism.
