Salem: Two persons were arre­sted on Monday by the Salem police for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl who worked as domestic help in their home, police said.

Saranya, 16, and Lav­a­n­ya, 12, (both names changed) were rescued by the Childline auth­orities after they were found roaming in the streets a few days ago.

Upon enquiry, Child­line authorities found that the two girls had ran away from the ho­me where they were em­­ployed after the el­der girl was raped by Nag­asamy, 57, who had hi­red them, and his friend Chandran, 35.

Following a compla­int, the police on Mon­day arrested Naga­samy and Chandran and remanded them to judicial custody.
