India’s 35 ‘protected’ monuments are ‘untraceable’, Archaeological Survey of India says
NEW DELHI: Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the government agency responsible for preserving the country's cultural heritage, has a startling revelation on offer. It just doesn't know where 35 of its protected monuments have disappeared. "Untraceable" is the word they use.

What a Shame.....Much of the monuments would have been "swallowed" by "development." may be someone should ask Mr. vadra for the missing monuments in Delhi, UP, Haryana, and elsewhere.
Everyone in India knows and operates under the rule "once a structure is built" it is hard for anyone to demolish it. The entire glittering T.Nagar high rise commercial buildings along Usman road in Madras is illegal - so ruled the high court. But, with politicians and money involved, automatic waivers are given every 10 to 15 years. Unless someone bulldozes the entire stretch to teach a lesson, such things will go on indefinitely.

Well said, "what a shame!"
Now wait for someone (e.g. a historian) try to pin it on the Opposition etc., like some people earlier wrongly blaming the RSS and Prasad for the lack of UCC in India.
