I am from IIM, the Harvard of India
Nagesh and Bavesh were the sons of a TN brahmin who made a lot of money working in the middle east. They went to high school there.
They both did B.Com.
Bavesh took some training in Oracle as well.
He wanted to come to America badly and was interviewed by a desi.
"You are technically good. However, being just a B.Com, you do not have the maturity to come to America," he said.
The mother got pissed off. She told Bavesh "Who the hell is he to say that? Is he a gatekeeper who decides who gets to go to America?"
Bavesh went ahead and did an M.B.A through distance learning.
Then he heard that Carnegie Melon University offered an accelerated Masters degree program in Information systems management. You can get an M.S.I.M in one year if you work hard enough.
The dad had a ton of money. He sent both of his kids to CMU.
Bavesh had a classmate at CMU. He had done his M.B.A (technically speaking PGDM) from an IIM. The IIM man was never tired of telling Bavesh "I am from IIM. You are just a B.Com"
Bavesh and Nagesh were able to successfully get through the program. It cost their dad $100,000. That was more than 15 years ago.
Then came the campus interviews.
The IIM man told the recruiter from a well known company "I went to the Indian Insitute of Management. It is the Harvard of India."
The guy from the company was puzzled. He asked "If you had gone to a school in India which is like Harvard, what are you doing here at CMU?"
The IIM man was fuming over this for weeks.

Re: I am from IIM, the Harvard of India
There was this guy who had similar traits of claiming every day to everyone about his academic accomplishments. One day while in a group I was pissed off and said "please dont tell you went to all those schools bcz you are rotting with the rest of the slumguys here, and you are actually coming out looking very bad".
He stopped saying that.
He stopped saying that.
