Re: taDi maarna
No. no taDi maarna. Dumma maarna is another lingo for bunking classes in my good ol' hyderabad.
Anjaan maarna is a common word for 'pretending to ignore someone'.
Wondering how common the above two are in other parts of india.
taDi maarna? no, nvr heard it.

Yeah, bunking school was an expression used in India similar to playing hooky in America. Cutting classes could be a part of bunking school since you could just cut classes in the afternoon and go see a movie. Been there, done that!

Lol. I got outnumbered on chat yesterday about this term and google didn't back me up either. So, hoped maybe other hindians might have heard of it. Looks like it was a local term.

>>>Word on the street was you were cutting classes at MCC and making a beeline to Stella Maris. Too bad the Indian system was not flexible enough to allow petitioning of classes for credit at other schools. Hell, I could have earned a degree at Ethiraj.

We didn't have to trek too far, Kris. MCC was co-ed with the women's hostel in the premises. We didn't need to cut classes. Just bellowing out a few tuneful melodies under the moonlit skies often brought the damsels rushiing to the balconies!

They would hold candles and sing in chorus as part of some invocation ritual. Some guy would shout 'they are here' and there would be a mad rush to the balconies to see the decked out girls.

Re: taDi maarna
oh. just read this thread. i've heard of taDi pAr. it is tapori hindi (mumbaiya actually). it means absconding.
so, in tapori, taDi mArna makes sense (as bunking).
was surprised today to see pakistanis using "vella" in a game chat. vella meaning unemployed loser in tamil (i think).

Not to rain on your parade, we had streakers on campus. Nothing like watching buxom babes bounding through the meandering tree-lined avenues against the falling sun of autumn. Memories ... misty water-colored memories!

MCCians never left campus for sight-seeing purposes. Why look for honey elsewhere when you have beehives at home, eh?

Perhaps too many times to keep count. Girls know that they can't make a romantic omelet without breaking a few egg-shaped hearts!

in some colleges, the girl to boy ratio is so small. maximum eggs break per omelet there.
