Gardening report please!
Earlier this year at springtime a number of SUCHERS (including Panini and Impedimenta) were talking / posting about their forthcoming horticulture projects (planting / growing of flowers and vegies etc. in their homes / gardens).
So, what is the status of your effort now? Was it worth it, even better than expected? And what do you plan to do for next year ... increase your effort in gardening including more choices of flowers and vegies?
Btw you can post here the photos of flowers and vegies in your garden this year.

Congratulations.
Btw take your time ... no hurry for pictures etc. You can later copy and paste the write-up and pictures from FB to SUCH... time for you to be a show offeran here too.

Nice flowers Idefix. Congratulations on the gardening success.
Btw any more pictures and write up (along with captions under the pictures)?
Re: Gardening report please!
I shouldn't take credit for the flowers -- I did only some of the initial grunt work. But they did turn out beautifully. These are poppies, the yellow in the background are native California poppies. We also planted some nasturtium that came out nicely.
Next year will be more ambitious -- unlike this season when we started late in March, we will have all of winter to do the prep work so I expect we will do more. This year we cleared and planted about half of our front yard, next year it will be the whole yard. Also need to look into setting up channels to water the plants and stuff like that.

That`s good, to be more ambitious and planning ahead for next year, gardening-wise.
There is nothing like gardening ... it is one of the most rewarding hobbies (not only in terms of getting flowers and fruits etc. but also for calming nerves and changing mood etc. for the better).

I am just curious. Do you think that Idefix will distinguish between weeds and garden plants? He may "intellectualize" and come to a conclusion that weeds have every right to be the real garden plants! After all, in Fukularism, anything and everything goes - weeds and terrorists are just words created by unthinking fools.

Sandilya, it seems he has avoided intellectualizing and arguing with plants so far and hopefully will do the same next year.

As part of my ongoing plan to simplify my life, I cut all the plants - including a giant 8 foot rose plant, a creeper covering the side wall, and few others. Still looking for ways to simplify my daily life.

We also have some really hardy weeds as well, so my plan was to clear the entire yard before Christmas and keep it covered for a few months so they all die out. That reminds me, I don't remember if everything we planed this spring was an annual or if we planted some perennials.Kris wrote:>>>Very nice.
