fantasy all time world xi
i think to pick one team is really difficult. picking two is only just a little bit easier.
here are my picks:
team I:
gavaskar
greenidge
bradman
lara
viv richards
alan knott (wk)
ian botham
shane warne (capt)
wasim akram
ray lindwall (outside the subcont)/richie benaud (in the subcont)
michael holding
12th man: richard hadlee
team II
alastair cook
jack hobbs
rahul dravid
sachin tendulkar
jacques kallis
garfield sobers (capt)
adam gilchrist (wk)
dennis lillee (outside the subcont)/anil kumble (in the subcont)
fred truman
curtly ambrose
mutthiah muralitharan
12th man: ricky ponting
i did not want to go purely by records, but by ability to perform in various locales and conditions, and the impact they had on the game during their era. i also wanted to spread my choices out by era and by country to ensure fair representation. so sehwag for example is not in because he has proven to be mostly a flat track bully. for batting i prefer technique over hand-eye coordination and flashiness. i also made warnie captain because if it wasn't for his personal troubles he'd surely have led the great recently retired aussie team. he is a very shrewd tactician in addition to being the greatest ever legspinner.

exchanged kallis and richards. kallis and sobers can't be in the same team.
