no idea if this is just hype, or whether there is a real technology and product behind the buzz. disclaimer: i have spent no mental space looking into whether this might work.

I remember hearing something along that line 10 years ago. Also, the Electric companies were trying to get into networking using their power lines to transport data like the phone lines. I even bought a package of adapters that plugs into outlets and connect the computers. I remember it did not work and something happened. That was a time when I was a Computer nerd of the highest order and was much feared at work bcz I would mess up with their computers.
I am sure the gadget is lying in my house someplace...

Will wait to steal power from the air from my neighbors..Razz

The idea of power without wires is not new. Tesla tried it more than 100 years ago, "Tesla's Tower of Power" (http://www.damninteresting.com/teslas-tower-of-power/).

The real question ultimately is the economics.

Is it easier and cheaper to directly charge the battery of computer / calculator through wires coming from the electric outlet from the wall?

And how much more money will be needed, in addition to adding more parts and complexities to your computer / calculator, to charge the battery inside the computer / calculator without wires through a gadget which first changes electricity to ultrasonic waves at the electric outlet in the wall and then another gadget fitted inside the computer / calculator changes the ultrasonic waves into electricity for charging the battery inside the computer / calculator?
