We used to start rehearsing from August onwards. Would prep a show for the teachers, organized completely by the 12th grade students, and participated by kids from 6th thru 12th, on their own time (morning, recess, after school). There would be auditions and the good shows would be picked, timed, and rehearsed more.  All of it was a full secret, teachers didn't know what was going on and who was doing what.

On teacher's day, teachers would not work, just dress up and chill in teachers room. 12th grade students would go teach all kids for 2 or 3 periods, and would mostly be a fun time for all. And later half of the day, the teachers would be welcomed and felicitated, and the show would be presented.

I donot remember any festivities but students would give pen sets/good/leather bound diaries to teachers.

I spoke to my 4th grade/7th grade teachers yesterday and also to my friend's mom who is a retired professor. One should read upon Kamaraj's contribution to education in TN. Great work done by a man who didnot study beyond 6th grade.

>>>Kamaraj had a great vision.

Because he did not have the opportunity for getting a decent education, he really understood its value.

TN is somewhat better developed and progressive because of Kamaraj. He laid the foundation.

He was not married. So he did not have the need to amass wealth for his family members.
