the shutdown has negative consequences for me. still i don't want obama to cave on this. it's worth putting up a fight to uphold the principle that it is right to fund a properly passed piece of legislation. if you don't like it, then repeal it through the normal legislative process -- talk to people, get them on your side, win them over through rational arguments, and gather the requisite votes. don't act like somali pirates and hold up the country because you couldn't win legislatively.

Yes, Clinton is remembered more fondly by Americans than Newt. Thanks for pointing that out.

+1. Let the government stay closed until the GOP caves. Obama has more leverage today than he did yesterday. And he ought to use it.

if boehner puts up the senate version of the appropriations bill for a vote today it WILL pass without any problems. it's his primeval fear of the tealiban that's the source of this mess. i had forgotten that there are normal human beings in the GoP until i heard PA congressman charlie dent on NPR today.

Two-thirds of Americans -- 66% -- have a favorable opinion of former U.S. President Bill Clinton, tying his record-high favorability rating recorded at the time of his inauguration in January 1993.

Last I checked, "partisan libbies" did not account for 66% of the American population.

Over 40% of Republicans have a favorable opinion of Clinton. That's more Republicans than voted for Newt in the primaries Smile.

Ha ha ha. Typical management consultant tactics. Try talking to a few people who actually vote the other way.
