not sure why you are so happy. the guy is clearly a political opportunist. He will have no electoral impact. Most people in UP don't even know who he is. And UP is the state most critical for the BJP. That is why the recent Muzzaffarnagar riots had to be orchestrated in UP.

A much more interesting scenario would have been if Sunny Deol would have contested against Manish Tiwari--reportedly this is what Modi wanted Sunny to do, but Sunny backed out.

to my knowlewdge Awadhi and Braja are the major hindi dialects of UP. Bhojpuri is more prevalent in Bihar.

That it is more prevalent in Bihar has nothing to do with its prevalence in UP. You can add bhojpuri to your list of 'major' above to make it complete. You do not want to antagonize the Benarasis for one.

the language spoken in Benaras would be Hindustani. It is in the rural regions surrounding Benaras that Bhojpuri is spoken. People born and brought up in cities in UP typically do not know these hindi dialects unless they have some connection ('native village' to which they frequently travel to spend time) to the countryside.
