"John Lennon's song "Give Peace a Chance" became the rally cry for anti-war protesters. Soon the refrain at cricket grounds could be: "Give bowlers a chance.""

"You can't blame the bowlers for thinking they are being served up as cannon fodder for the pampered batsmen."

"We're already seeing the slower-ball bouncer and the wide yorker being regularly used to contain the hitting. Eventually bowlers will rely heavily on batsmen getting themselves out rather than on ambushing them."

-> This is what we've been harping about for years.

Yes, bowlers serving as cannon fodder has become very routine and boring. But "poor Ishant" is an "unlucky" bowler who never gets wickets but keeps getting selected in the playing X1. It is about time to drop this non performer.

My question:

When there are restrictions on fielding, bowling, why there are no restrictions on the batsmen. allow only X number of 4s, 6s, dot balls, dropped catches, etc... as one article suggested, 1-drop catch against spinners should be allowed and against a fast bowler boundaries count only for 2 runs.If the batsmen made 6 continuous dot balls, he is out.

Now that will be fun.
