Teacher suspended for making students massage her legs in Maharashtra

AKOLA: In a shocking incident, a woman teacher of a government school in Akola allegedly made speech and hearing impaired students massage her legs.
The teacher, Shital Avchar, working at a government run school for deaf and mute students, was also found guilty of taking nap in the classroom during school hours and harassing the pupils, officials said.
The misdemeanour of the teacher came to light through a purported sting operation conducted by a student who sent video clips to a school official.
Subsequently, Akola zilla parishad's chief executive officer Arun Unhale ordered an inquiry in which the teacher was prima facie held guilty, following which he recommended her suspension.
She was suspended from service on Monday.
Meanwhile, the human rights organization demanded the teacher's immediate dismissal from service.
Further, an inquiry was also conducted against school superintendent Prahlad Lane, who was found guilty of negligence and also suspended on Monday.
The students of the school alleged before reporters that they were beaten up when they complained against the teacher, who harassed them on several occasions and allegedly made them massage her legs.

A lot of them are physically and sexually abused by their teachers and other authority figures. Also the kids in orphanage are treated much worse. There was an article about a women government worker in TN in charge of an orphanage brought home every day one of the kids and made her clean the house and wash the dishes.

It was not uncommon in India (at least w.r.t male teachers). See the video from the movie Sankarabharanam.

Just watched the video of the student massaging her leg. Looks like he is enjoying himself and was doing "more" than was asked. I wonder if she was asking them to massage her feet or get some cheap thrill out of it. She may be the female counterpart of the deprived Indian youngsters on crowded buses and trains!
