Marriage dole for minorities
The comments below the story are as interesting as the story itself.

I personally like thgis comment.
A financial benefit of Rs 50,000 to help unmarried women from any poor family as well as divorcees and widows intending to marry again is a sheer waste of substantial amounts of public funds. Such funds would buy enough machines and materials to start a business like tailoring, knitting, crochet, pickle making, jam making, tea and cookie stalls, poultry farm, and so on. A smart minister would give these women training, skills, and knowledge so that they become independent when young men will be soliciting their hand in marriage. Such assistance builds families, communities, villages, and the nation.

Re: Marriage dole for minorities
Well said!
Actually in Islamic communities the custom is for Men to give money to Woman's family for the hand of marriage. The problem is that the money goes to her family and not to her. The government should not give the money away, it should keep it in a bank account and let it grow, for her to use it at 10 years or 15 years. This way if the woman who is at the mercy of the notorious evil of Triple Talaq gets affected (which is endorsed by Deoband and other Friends of Rashmun), atleast this amount will come to her protection.
The practice of dowry (despite outlawed) is still prevalent among some section of Hindu poor, where the girl's family spends all the money and dowry supposedly given for her security is usurped by the groom's family. So why doesn't the government not extend the benefit to everyone. Shame on Congress. The population of Hindu poor exceeds the total population of Muslims. Still nobody cares about them.
All this is acceptable in Secular India! Doles for Minorities are acceptable, but treating everyone equal is non-secular. The local laws have become a joke with a pliant media refusing to uphold secularism as a principle and it is comical that Media questions BJP but does not question overtly Communal laws of Congress in Karnataka, Kerala, AP, Assam, and TC in West Bengal.
