K Kamaraj: His biggest mistake was turning down the post of PM and installing Indira. He was forced to part ways with her in the famous 1960s party split.Marathadi-Saamiyaar wrote:

There was no offering...he was the President and the office brearers wanted him to take over as PM - due to the sudden death of 2 PMs and 2 wars within 4, 5 years. Kamaraj was only 62 and hence was relatively young. ..after Sastry was found dead in Tashkent - Indira was just an I & B minister and a quiet good for nothing cutie - people wanted Kamaraj to become the PM. But he and several others wanted Indira (over Morarji) and after Indira became PM and Morarji Dy PM, Kamaraj stepped down as Congress President.Rishi wrote:K Kamaraj: His biggest mistake was turning down the post of PM and installing Indira. As the congress president - if he had behaved like any current congressman - he could have become the PM after Nehru's death or Sastry's death.

Don't make up things. Kamaraj was NEVER offered PM post. Absolutely not.
