ETAWAH (UP): MPs should be banned from speaking in English in Parliament, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav has said.

"There should be a ban on English address in Parliament. Countries which use their mother tongue are more developed.  It's the need of the hour to promote Hindi," Yadav said at a function last night.

Yadav said people living in different regions should try to promote Hindi apart from their regional languages

-> Govt. should pass a law saying that only folks from Hindi belt can contest for MP seats all over India. That will take care of this issue and also will help promote Hindi.

>>> The greater development in those countries is not due to people using their mother tongue (in parliaments etc.), but because of Govts. in those countries having no quotas and privileges for people in education and jobs on the basis of caste (ancestral family occupation) and religion (where and to whom people pray) and not allowing separate religious / communal laws for different communities.

In other words, most of the school / college seats and jobs in these 'more developed' countries are decided on the basis of person's qualifications and merit and not according to his / her caste or religion. Similarly, they have only one official Law in the country which applies equally to everyone, irrespective of religion, race, gender and caste, instead of the separate multiple laws for different communities.

In 1997, Caught in his duplicity of sending his son to English medium school, Yadav answered, "yes, I decided to send him to one because they make you a disciplined, selfless patriot".
