Not much difference between Tejpal and Modi: Cong

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said there was not much "basic difference" between the Tehelka case and the "illegal" snooping of a woman in Gujarat, describing them as an attack on the dignity of women.

Condemning the incidents, she said action should be initiated in both the cases as per law.

"There was not much of a basic difference between the snooping episode allegedly involving Narendra Modi and the latest sexual assault case of a woman journalist by Tehelka Editor Tejpal as both the incidents are an attack on the dignity of women," Dikshit said.

She was replying to a question whether she felt that there was any basic difference between the two cases.

"We should raise our voice against them. It is a matter of serious concern. Action should be taken in these cases to set examples so that such incidents do not happen again in future," she said.

i don't know about modi and his snooping but basically this is what it boils down to: tejpal has a little power and modi has a lot of power and both abuse it.

several months ago when I first got to know of tehelka (I am behind the news) and their work, I pulled up some youtube videos of this guy and I was struck by how full of hubris he was, he criticized every damn person in india and he was the only good guy. and this attitude and self-righteousness permeates upper class Indians with degrees in the social sciences, journalism and all that soft stuff. I don't understand why journalists become so important when they report the news such as match-fixing in india, Gujarat riots etc. yes, it's called investigative journalism, now take your salary and stfu. anyhow, this guy ended up being treated like a god and in reality this is just your garden-variety upper-caste, upper-class indian male that a woman can't enter the elevator with, or share an office with. put him in the house alone with a maidservant, or on a crowded delhi bus and you know what to expect.

You hit the nail on the head.

One minor correction though. Upper class right. But I do not know whether upper caste is always correct. In TN, it is the rich BC fellows who screw their servant maids. However, I have heard of Brahmin men who screw their brahmin cook on the side.

Now it is time for Propagandhi to make noise about my obsession with caste, color, race and ....
