what a coincidence, i was thinking of sherlock holmes too: i had a hearty laugh watching "the great game." in this sherlock is totally bored and talking to an inmate who's describing how he murdered his girlfriend:

inmate: she's always saying i weren't a real man.
SH: wasn't. wasn't a real man.
inmate: what?
SH: it's not "weren't," it's "wasn't".
inmate: oh, well you know next thing I know there's a knife in my hand, and you know my old man was a butcher, learned me how to cut up a beast.
SH: taught. taught me how to cut up a beast.
inmate: what? well, then I done it.
SH: did it.
inmate: well, then I did it and then she weren't moving after that......she wasn't moving....after that.

lol. hilarious!
