Should people ask for paper ballots in next elections or should they consider the use of EVMs (electronic voting machines) to cast votes as reliable and without potential fraud and manipulation?

After much hue and cry, paper trail has been added to the EVM's. In Delhi, at certain constituencies it has been tried out. Not sure of EC's plan in rest of India or parliament elections. The concept is that a person gets to see a paper print out of his/her actual vote for a few seconds after he/she casts the vote and confirm  that the machine has recorded the vote without error. The papers are sealed and not counted, until there is an issue. It is a good compromise.

Another new feature of this election is the useless NOTA. NOTA is a total waste as it is toothless. Not sure why EC went for it. Morever they are playing games by changing the colour of the NOTA symbol in assembly and Parliament. It will be interesting to see the NOTA percentage in the recent polls. But NOTA could be mis-used in states like J&K.

It's good that the ordinary people have realized that there are potential problems in casting votes by using the EVMs.
