Looks like their "strip search" was too comprehensive. Excerpt from the Washington Post article.

Indian officials have alleged that the diplomat was strip-searched, cavity-searched and swabbed for DNA after her arrest.

Well. Strip search may be necessary and SOP for USMS. What if the diplomat had some knife/nailcutter or if she has some friends of LTTE admirers, she may have cyanide hidden with her and commits suicide, then USMS will be held responsible for causing death of the diplomat. So they have to follow the rules by the book/SOP.

aaarrgh..it's just calling it 'strip search' that is er..titillating, sensationalizing etc.,.. just calling it 'total search/complete search' would subdue this drama and save a lot of grief  Rolling Eyes

why don't you bring that up on an indian newpaper forum and see support from mayawati, mulayam swell...

if that happens khobragade could have chances to become the next india pm. you'll be famous and can also have admirers outside the airlines industry.
