Each of our lives is one way or the other is affected by this state. The Indian history we studied when we were young was most likely the history of Uttar Pradesh. The seal of Indian government, the pillar of Sarnath with faces of four lions is right here.  Most of Ramayana took place here. Mangal Pandey, the man who rebelled against the British during Sepoy mutiny belonged to the Meerut Cantonment. The most sacred rivers of the country Ganges, Yamuna and Sarayu flow through Uttar Pradesh and make the state fertile. Kanpur is one of the major industrial cities of India. The state is a leading automobile manufacturer as well. It is also prominent in leather industry. If you tell me that you do not care about history because you a techie then you must know Noida is information technology capital.

Uttar Pradesh quenches Hindus' spritual hunger.  If you wanted to tour U.P, there is a long list of places like Ayodhya(where Rama ruled ), Mathura(where Krishna was born), Aligarh (world famous university), Allahabad and Kashi. Hindus always want to visit Kashi at least once in their lifetime. The textile merchants in Tamil Nadu are lucky because they come often to Kashi to buy Benares  silk sarees.

Apart from these, there are sacred sites for Buddhists also. Savkandi stubi where Buddha met his disciples for the first time, Sarnath where Budddha preached his first sermon, Kushi Nagar where he attained Moksha. Although these places are not famous in India. They are well known to people in Japan, China, Sri Lanka and other countries where Budddhism is practised. The entire state of U.P speaks Hindi. However, you can manage there with Urdu. This is where Hindustani music found its voice. Kathak dance belongs to U.P. The main food here is Chappathi, Roti, Dal, Pappad. Chat is one of the snacks. In the evenings, a lot of people eat Samosa, padi-chokka, chola-poori.

The famous Mughal cuisine:  Dishes like Kabab, Kofta, Korma, Kheema, Pulav, Briyani, Paratha (in our language, it is called BarOttA) which have become not only famous in our state TN but also elsewhere in the worl originated here. They are called Mughal dishes. Deepavali, Holi, Dasara, Ramleela, Durga Puja, ChAth Puja, Eid Bakrid, Muharam  are all celebrated big time here.
Now tell me. Is there not a connection between U.P and yourself?

what he is saying is the TRUTH; it is not any advertisment for Uttar Pradesh. It cannot be helped that some of the most sacred places in Hinduism and most of the sacred places associated with Budhism are in Uttar Pradesh. Similarly the statement about mughal food, and about the great cultural diversity within Uttar Pradesh, are all factual and correct statements. By no stretch of this the imagination can this be considered a tourism pamphlet for UP.

In aaddition to what the article said U.P has lot of ignorance, the culture of  falling at everyone's feet for everything, caste fanaticism, Zamindari system, people who cannot escape from backwardness, enslavement of women, denial of education to women and reluctance to learn any language other than Hindi. It is only because of Mulyam Singh and Mayawathi, the OBC/SC?ST people can breathe some freedom. Here they speak Mythili(the language Rama spoke) and Bhojpuri which are rich in culture and emotion. If you listen to Bhojpuri songs, your legs will start dancing automatically. The Tamil poet  (Thiru vika) who said that he has never heard any language sweeter than Tamil did not have an opportunity to hear Bhojpuri being spoken.
