high flying desi techies
it struck me that all the high flyer desis in tech industry appear to be in "old" tech - OS, web1.0 etc. looks like the web2.0 revolution passed by without major impact by indians. wrong/right?

I don't about that but I read the analysis somewhere that the Indian immigrant H1-B wave which started in mid 90s created a big pool of techies with the required 15-20 yr experience for top posts. This is only the beginning of the high profile Indian origin CEO's.

what I meant is, during web1.0 heyday you heard of so many desis setting up networking companies and whatnot, and generally being a big force in sillycon valley and such. you dont hear about any innovators in web2.0 with desi sounding names. I shoulda clarified that...

Gurbux Chahal successfully founded and sold companies way back when and is currently a CEO of a 2.0ish sounding company. But he is more of a businessman who makes great deals rather than a techie.

It may have something to do with the easy availability of venture capital in the bubble days of late 90's. And Indian economy opening up in mid 00's.
