Jaya claims TN model better than Modi's Gujarat
Do you think it is true?
I feel there is some truth in her claim.
Some well known fcts:
TN is among the top five (or top three in few cases) states in terms of economic development
Check metrics like GDP growth, Industries, jobs, Chennai development etc.
On the other hand:
TN's both major parties are widely agreed to be corrupt. Their leaders are in courts now.
It has limited water resources, limited electric power, and limited natural resources
It is as caste divided as any other state.
It has one of the most lop sided reservation systems in the country (probably the worst one).
It drove away many TN brahmins through social movements.
Interestingly it elects a brahmin from Bangalore as TN's CM.
It makes really loud movies with exaggerated personalities.
How does TN do it?
Is the TN model real or myth?
Is there any cultural trait that helps Tamils perform better than others?
Is it possible that other states are so f'up that TN's performance looks good?
What do you think?
I feel there is some truth in her claim.

>>>
1. Britishers got to TN long before they conquered NI.
2. TN had leaders like Rajaji who was an intellectual.
3. TN had selfless leader and a great visionary Kamaraj who understood the importance of universal education.

Re: Jaya claims TN model better than Modi's Gujarat
I read in some newspapers that Jayalalitha prefers BJP to work through her in TN, but not independently. She is miffed that Modi did not do that when meeting the movie star Rajnikanth and someone one else. But the political accommodations are just that; they are based on expediency. BJP will remember Jayalalitha as the one who caused the Vajpayee govt. to fall (by just one vote on a no confidence motion). She cannot expect the same deference, a la Congress wrt Karunanidhi with 5 cabinet positions and when his daughter and other minions were swallowing like there's no tomorrow.
